1SG (Ret.) John Joseph Callahan, age 75 of Clarksville, passed away July 5, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Garrett Millikin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Full Military Honors. John was born July 17, 1941 in Covington, KY to the late Paul and Elizabeth Wagoner Callahan. He served 24 years seven months in the U.S. Army where he received many special achievements: Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal W/5 Campaign, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Civil Actions Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Oversees Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, and Overseas Bars. John is survived by his wife Edith Magarete Hahn-Callahan; daughters, Sandra Callahan-Campbell and Claudia Callahan-George; grandchildren, Lawrence Campbell, Laylani Campbell, Laurencia Campbell, Jonathan George, Jr., Gavin Joseph George and Izabella Alysia George; sister, Joanie Agnes Callahan-Wells.
