Zanda Gentry

Zanda O. Gentry, age 92 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Friday, March 24, 2017, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born Friday, November 28, 1924 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late A H Morgan Murphy and the late Nannie Phillips Murphy. She married June 20, 1942 to the late Earl C. Gentry whom she was married to for 65 years before his passing. Zanda was a loving Sister and Aunt She was a member at Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church, attended Jackson County High School, was a lifetime member of VFW Post #6296, and worked at Acme Boot for 30 years. She is survived by: 1 Sister: Betty Ragland A host of Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her Parents and Husband she was preceded in death by 5 Sisters, Thelma Swan, Ruth Pennington, Mary Strang, Georgia Ouelette, and Lois Smith Chaffin, 4 Brothers, Archie Thurlow Murphy, James Willard Murphy, Austin Murphy, and Lester Murphy. Funeral services for Zanda will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017, beginning at 3:00 pm at Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church at 833 South Willow Avenue Cookeville, TN 38501 with Bro. Charles Cook officiating. Interment will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church Sunday, March 26, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.
