Kate Eugina Whitson, age 92, of Erwin passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Issac R. and Dora Kate Belle Corn Shelton. Mrs. Whitson retired from Industrial Garment in 2000 after forty-eight years of service. She was a member of Canah Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and the Canah Chapel Sunshine Group Sunday School Class. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D. C. Whitson on December 16, 2011; one son, Gary L. Whitson; three brothers: Hoy Shelton, Troy Shelton and Alvis Chandley; four sisters: Pearl Shelton, Reva Silvers, Viola Chandley and Dean Hensley. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, one son, Dallas G. Whitson and friend, Connie Dunn of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Jason, Delayna, Katherine, Bonnie, Dallas, Jr. and Christina; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Chandley of Greeneville; daughter-in-law, Donna Whitson of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel from 12:30 P. M. until the hour of service. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate at the 2:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City.
