Glenn Allen “Cotton” Atkins – age 70 of Maynardville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Glenn was a devoted attendee of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He retired from Tennessee Department of Transportation and Siebe, LLC – Robertshaw Controls Company. Glenn also served on the Board of Directors of the Union County Historical Society. Glenn was a much beloved husband, father, brother and friend. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, H. E. “Edd” Atkins; mother, Margaret (Hamley) Atkins; brother, Richard Atkins; special aunt and uncle, Ina and H. C. Hamley. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Connie Atkins; daughters, Eva Atkins, Tessa (Kevin) Atkins Warren; sons, James Atkins, Randy (Jami) Gredig and Stanley Gredig; grandchildren, Rafe and Cael Warren and Jairus Reed; sister, Martha Jean (Carlos) Carter; brothers, John E. “Buster” (Bonnie) Atkins and Roger (Kathy) Atkins; nieces and nephews, Harold Carter, Jeana Kirby, Lisa Atkins, Rev. Teresa McClure, Travis Atkins and Danny Atkins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. John Teffteller and Rev. Teresa McClure officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Home to go in procession to Robert E. Lett Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Union County Historical Society, P. O. Box 95, Maynardville, TN 37807.
