Betty Tipton

Betty Lois Tipton, age 86, Erwin, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the Unicoi County Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late B. E. Wilson Sr. and Effie Loyd Wilson. Mrs. Tipton was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist Faith and attended the Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church and Hulen Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Tipton adored her granddaughter and great grandsons. She loved her family and was considered the family historian. Mrs. Tipton was a great cook, loved being outdoors, reading, sewing, and gardening. She enjoyed working in her church with the children and missions. Over the years, she cared for many children in her home. She also enjoyed working In her father's store, B. E. Wilson Store. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tipton on January 26, 1991; three brothers, Cecil, Paul and B. E. Wilson, Jr; three sisters, Edna Foxx, Irene Widener and Helen Monk along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tipton leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Pam and Leon White, Erwin; one granddaughter, Jennifer and A. J. Higgins, Erwin; two great grandsons, Mason and Aiden Higgins. Several nieces, nephews and special friends, Brenda and David Whisnant, Beverly Baker, Kim Blankenstein and Teresa Whitson. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Reverend Robert English will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 P.M. Thursday.
