Obituary for James "Bill" Morris

Mr. James A. "Bill" Morris, 87, of Union City died 9:05 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Presson will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hammond, Ben Parker, Jack Jernigan, Johnny McTurner, Kelvin Presson and Jason Fraley.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.

Mr. Morris was born July 17, 1926, in Hickman, Kentucky, son of the late Ernest Lee Morris and the late Maggie Viola Craddock. He married Wilma (Presson) Morris March 11, 1948. She survives. Mr. Morris had been employed as a truck driver for the former Reelfoot Packing Company and was the owner and operator with his wife Wilma of the former Pizza U.S.A. near Union City. He served in the United States Army in World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

He is also survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Morris of Cookeville, Donnie and Glenda Morris, Gary Morris and David and Carol Morris all of Union City; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Jernigan of Union City; one brother, Gaylon Morris of Hickman, Kentucky; one sister, Jenny McCartney of Union City; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Lynn Morris; and two sisters, Dorothy Madden and Inez Young.
