Mr. Jimmy Lee Lowe, 68, of Union City died 10:44 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Pastor Tommy Hall will officiate.
Mr. Lowe was born October 1, 1940, in Jackson, Michigan, son of the late James Elmor and Vinnie Amanda (Crane) Lowe. He married the former Claudia De Bortoli January 24, 1985. She survives. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company where he had been employed for 28 years. He was a current employee of Pocket's Shell Station, had been a member of the Lions Club in Munith, Mi., and Union City, was a member of United Steel Workers of America Local 878, and was stationed in Germany with the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lowe is survived by five daughters, Angie (Kenneth) Quinn of Searcy, Ark., Connie (Johnny) Babb of Union City, Robin (Jeff) Fletcher of Munith, Mi., Crystal Lowe and Jason Maxwell of Jackson, Mi. and Isabelle Lowe of Union City; one son, Jimmy Lee Lowe II (Carrie) Lowe of Kalkaska, Mi.; three stepdaughters, Lisa Steinke of Fayetteville, Tn., Alena (Kenny) Vincent of Mayfield, Ky., Chris (Tom) Conrad of Nashville; one stepson, John McFarland (Chris King) of Nashville; two sisters, Winifred Crain and Marlene (Richard) Dixon of Jackson, Mi.; three brothers, Dean (Ann) Lowe and Roger (Janet) Lowe of Grass Lake, Mi. and Tom (Geraldine) Lowe of Mocksville, N.C.; seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Lowe, one granddaughter, Heather Steinke, and one sister-in-law, Carol Lowe.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Active pallbearers to serve will be Tom Conrad, Kenny Vincent, Johnny Babb, Kenneth Quinn, Jeff Fletcher and Chris King.
Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Corey Webb, Blake Babb, Ryan Quinn, Jack Conrad, Michael Wharton, Evan Fletcher, Brendon Fletcher, Ty Maxwell, Kevin Adams and Gary Adams.
