Tommie Sears Obituary

Tommie Sandra Sears Momma, Oh, how we will miss you! You were born the second daughter of Tom and Gwen Cline in Mission, TX on December 31, 1941. Grandpa wanted a son, so you were named Tommie. To prove his point, you liked to fish and could shoot pretty good too! You were raised in Midland TX and graduated from Midland High School in 1959. You attended college in El Paso, TX before returning home. While back in Midland, your friend talked you into going on the worst blind date that would eventually result in two kids, Tres and Gwen, two beautiful grandkids, Gracie and Noah and almost Fifty-Seven years of marriage with your best friend Travis. You loved life and especially your family. I remember you teaching Tres how to dance in the garage. You put down cornmeal so his boots would slide easier. You were able to teach him so well because you and daddy were always dancing. In the garage, living room and yes, even the kitchen. People often commented on how well you two danced together. You loved to stay up late watching old movies and sleep in the next morning. You enjoyed buying flowers and telling daddy where to plant them. You shopped for Christmas presents year round. You always cooked dinner every Sunday for the entire family. It was always delicious and sometimes a bit exciting, the kids still talk about the time we had fondue and the table was set on fire. You were an amazing seamstress who sewed lots of clothes for the people you loved. Your Halloween costumes were award winning (my alien costume in the third grade). You loved to travel. It did not matter where…from dinner on the Eifel Tower to cooking over an open fire in Colorado. Even at the end, you kept trying to convince me to take you to Jamaica. If there had been a way, we would be there now. Now you’re with your mommy and daddy, your sister and so many others that went before you. All of us that are left here will miss you until we can be with you again. You had the hardest job ever, yet you made it look so easy. I guess anyone who really loves what they do will tell you that is the key. Tommie Sears, 75, of Abilene, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017. Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in North’s Memorial Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street.
