ALBA – Funeral services for Alfred Junior Akers, 74, of Murchison, formerly of Alba, are scheduled for Monday, August 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Bro. Chris Horton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba. Mr. Akers passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019, at his residence. He was born June 7, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Harmon Otto and Mary Ruth Owens Akers. He was a truck driver, and a member of KJV Lighthouse Baptist Church of Alba. He lived in Alba for 15 years. He married Toyua Sue Russell on May 27, 2006, in Mineola. They lived in Tyler for 9 years before moving to Murchison 3 years ago. Survivors include wife of 13 years, Toyua Akers of Murchison; son Brian Akers and wife Tammy of Electra; daughters. Tonya Akers and life partner Christine Dattos of Canton; Susan and Johnnie Carsten of Palestine; sisters, Leona Southern and husband Frank of Lafayette, Georgia, Nadine Leitzel of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patsy Sipes Akers; son, Carl Blackmon; daughter, Linda Hudgins; and granddaughter Mandie Oberlender.
