Irene Ladewig Angleton, Texas Obituary

Irene Ladewig

Irene Angeline Ladewig’s desire to “go home” was fulfilled on July 12, 2013 when she went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. There she joins the love of her heart, Wallace Ladewig Sr., her husband for 63 years before his death, and their eldest daughter, Vivian Satchell. Irene is remembered for her sweet spirit, gentleness, and lovingkindness, which she extended to family as well as members of her church and community. She served little children in church nurseries in First Baptist Church, Freeport and First Baptist Church, Angleton for 45 years combined; she also served as Nursery Worker Supervisor for the Gulf Coast Baptist Association. She was a faithful participant in both churches’ Women’s Missionary Union and supported mission activity around the world. After stepping down from nursery activities, she joined the Dorcas Sunday School Class with her nursery partner and best friend Audrey Johnson. She was the class secretary until the age of 91. Irene continued a faithful individual prayer ministry until her last days, a ministry from which many benefitted and in which her family found unity. Irene was 94 years old and is survived by daughter Elaine Leveillee (husband Roger—deceased), and sons Wallace Jr. (wife Vicky) and Glen (wife Jeanette). Surviving descendants include 4 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons, 16 great-granddaughters, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was known to the grandchildren either to by a simple ‘GrandMa’ or the affectionate moniker of ‘Nanny’. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hogan and Angeline Sinor; brothers Lloyd, Everett, and John Henry Sinor; sisters Viola Sinor and Mae Bain; grandson Michael Leveillee (son of Elaine). Second Timothy 4:6–7 was a lifelong favorite Scripture, for she did indeed fight a good fight and keep the faith while here on earth. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 19, at First Baptist Church, her home church since moving to Angleton in 1959. Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be Wayne Satchell, Randy Satchell, Jason Ladewig, Scott Bass, Stratton Ladewig, Mike Venegas, and Mathew Leveillee. The family requests that donations may be made in memory of Irene to the First Baptist Church Vision Fund, 236 E. Locus, Angleton, TX, 77515.
