Charis Elisabeth Guzman
Charis Elisabeth Guzman was born on July 20, 1978, in Longview, Texas and passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2017 also in Longview. She attended elementary school in Longview and later moved to Austin, Texas where she attended middle and high school graduating from Crockett High School. She also attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas before starting a successful career in the banking industry. Her most recent and last place of employment before her death, was with Bank of America where she held several important positions, including Underwriter III, Senior Underwriter, and National Accounts Production Manager. In these positions she developed extensive expertise in her field and was readily recognized for her accomplishments and productivity. In addition to her work, Charis was enthusiastically involved in fund raising for cancer research and other worthy endeavors. She no doubt was good at and enjoyed her job, but had always aspired to become a medical doctor, for which she had all the necessary attributes and intelligence to accomplish had she been given the opportunity. Although her career and work accomplishments were impressive, Charis considered her marriage to Samuel Leon Guzman her beloved husband of 17 years and their sons Samuel Leon Guzman, Jr. and Benjamin Paul Guzman as her major accomplishment in life and her treasure. Charis received all of her Catholic sacraments at San Jose Catholic Church. She and Samuel were married at San Jose. Survivors of her immediate family include, her father Louis Garcia (Waco) and mother Linda Vann (Austin); father-in law Samuel Guzman (Austin) and mother-in-law Sheila Guzman (Austin); brothers Jason LeTourneau, Michael Wakim and Alex Wakim (Cedar Park); sister-in law Maria Feliz Guzman, her husband Robert Rubio and their two sons Tre Rubio and Vincent Rubio (Austin); many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from Austin, Longview, and Waco. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Richard H. Le Tourneau and grandmother Louise LeTourneau (Longview), and Abuelita Rosie Galvan (Austin). Her grandparents who are now in heaven will welcome her with open arms. Charis was a loving and caring young and beautiful woman who sought to accomplish great things in life and tried to always be there to help others. Her family and friends will miss her greatly and are heartbroken at her passing, but know that she is at peace and in the hands of God in heaven. Funeral arrangement by Angel Funeral Home.
