Albert Abshire

Service for Albert Freeman Abshire, Sr., 90, of Iredell will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Don Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery near Alvarado. Pallbearers will be Ricky Lewis, Jr., Reggie Lewis, Walter Lewis, Willie Lewis, Albert Abshire III and Danny Odom. Honorary Pallbearers will be the 1974-75 Alvarado High Football Team. Mr. Abshire passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 in Meridian. He was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Grandview to William Walter and Dolly Beatrice Freeman Abshire. He married Rose Mary Grant on Nov. 14, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. Abshire was a self employed truck driver and a member of the Iredell First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rose Mary Abshire of Iredell; son, Albert Freeman Abshire, Jr. and wife Becky of Iredell; daughter, Susie Abshire Lewis and husband Ricky of Iredell; brother, Eldon Abshire and wife Doris of Alvarado; six grandchildren, Ricky Lewis, Jr., Reggie Lewis, Walter Lewis, Willie Lewis, Albert Freeman Abshire III and Kristin Le'Ann Abshire; four great grandchildren, Stacia Lewis, Stevee Watson, William Merrick Lewis and Elijah Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Grace, Mary and Joyce, three brothers, Willie D., Pete and Charlie and one granddaughter, Laura Lynn Lewis.
