Ben E. Blitch

Service for Ben E. Blitch, 87, of Cleburne will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. Glenn Gray will officiate. Committal will follow at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, in Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Pallbearers will be Matt Denny, Matt Fulgham, Clinton Farrell, Dan Beeler, Jeff Beeler, and Allen Beeler. Honorary pallbearers will be David McPhate and Steve Kaylor. Visitation will be at 12:30 P.M., Wednesday, prior to the service. Ben E. Blitch passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 in Dallas. He was born July 27, 1929 in DeLeon to Mose Everett and Augusta Mae Starkey Blitch. He married Dortha Bell Hightower on Mar. 10, 1949 in Albany. Mr. Blitch worked for Texas Electric Service Company, now Oncor. He retired as a Senior Buyer in 1987 after 38 years of service and worked for Cummins Electric Supply until 1994. He loved to play golf, go fishing, hunt, watch sports, read the Bible and travel. He went to all 50 states and the UK. While going to college he joined the National Guard and then transferred to Ft. Worth to the 49th Armored Tank Division. He was disappointed that his division was not activated during the Korean war because they did not use tanks there. He was baptized in the Whitney Church of Christ in 1957 and served as an Elder in the Aquilla Church of Christ. He was a member of Granbury St. Church of Christ in Cleburne after moving to Cleburne from Whitney in 1999. He was a good husband, father, provider, friend and Christian. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Dot Blitch of Cleburne; three children, Nicki Beeler and husband Allen of Cooper, Kitzi Fulgham and husband Pat of Richardson and Jeff Blitch and wife Joyce of Tolar; six grandchildren, Jeff Beeler and wife Jennifer, Jenna Farrell and husband Clinton, Dan Beeler, Matt Fulgham and wife Renee, Holly Denny and husband Matt and Randi McPhate and husband David; nine great grandchildren, Wade and Luke Farrell, Brooklyn Beeler, Konnor and Emory McPhate, Trent and Emily Denny and Charlie and Caleb Kelley; sister, Nancy Westbrook of Bedford; and brother-in-law, Hudson Hightower of Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dorothy Bonham. Memorials may be made to Foster’s Home for Children, P.O. Box 978, Stephenville, TX 76401.
