Memorial services for Charles Atherton, 60, of Johnson County, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Charlie, as he was known to most, passed away on his 60th birthday, Friday, July 27, 2012 in Fort Worth. He was born on July 27, 1952, also in Fort Worth to William Atherton and Irma Graham Atherton. He was of the Baptist faith and worked over 25 years with Hawk Electronics. Charles was known for his big heart. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and family whom he loved and was loved by greatly. He was an accomplished Chili cook off competitor, who won several competitions over the years. He was also an avid animal lover who rescued many of God's creatures and gave them a better life. If you were a relative or a friend in need, he would always be there. Charles enjoyed traveling across the country as well as internationally. His love of life and giving nature will be missed by his family and many friends that he leaves behind. Charles was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one uncle, Sam Atherton of Fort Worth, and aunts; Dorothy Atherton of Fort Worth, and Dorothy Atherton of Conroe, numerous dear cousins, friends and extended family.
