Charles Koperski Obituary

Graveside service for Charles Chick A. Koperski II, 62, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Charles Chick A. Koperski the II passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 15, 2013. He was born on June 7, 1950 to Charles A. Koperski and Janice Lee Koperski in Toledo, Ohio. Charles Koperski was a retired Marine who proudly served two tours in Vietnam. On his first tour he served in the 2nd battalion 26th Marines, Echo Company 2nd Platoon. During this tour, he served as a Marine Infantryman and as a Scout Sniper. On his second tour he served as an advisor in a Combined Action Platoon. During this deployment he advised, trained, and served with the local South Vietnamese Forces. While on this deployment he was severely wounded and was returned to the States retiring as a Corporal. In 2004 he moved to Texas from Ohio and was very proud of becoming a, “full-fledged Texan.” He evolved from a hardened warrior to a compassionate, kind, Christian man. His examples of giving and kindness with a childlike simplicity will live forever. Chick’s passions included history, music, and knife collecting. He also loved to read and express his thoughts through writing. Once he decided to write the entire new testament by hand. He deeply loved all of his family in Texas, Ohio, and Michigan; he cherished his grandkids who called him “Pompoo”. During birthdays and Christmas he loved giving gifts. Each gift he gave was distinctive and unique. From engraved knifes, to inscribed leather bound Bibles, he loved to give. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Janice Koperski. He is survived by son William Koperski and wife Jessica, sister Danielle Petty and husband Michael, brother Jeffrey Koperski and wife Marie, grandchildren Bradley, Breanna, Jayden, and Liam Koperski; nephews Chad Diehl and wife Sarah, Sean Petty and wife Jade, and Ryan Petty and wife Hannah, Andrew, Marcus, and Christopher Koperski; nieces Shannon Dildy and husband Clay, and Michaela Petty; three great nephews Gage, Cayden Diehl and Kie Dildy; and ex-wife and friend Glee Ann “Koperski” Bryan.
