Dixie Hopper

Service for Dixie Nell Hopper, 88, of Alvarado will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 9, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend J. Bryan Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday. Mrs. Hopper passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Keene. She was born Sept. 7, 1923 in Osceola to Alvie and Beatrice Felts Hobbs. She married Derrell Dick Hopper on April 25, 1944 in Ft. Worth. Dixie grew up on a farm and enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and growing flowers. She was such an excellent pie maker that everyone encouraged her to open a bakery. Her family was very important to her. She was known as a caregiver and spent many hours rocking her grandbabies, great grandbabies and godchildren. Mrs. Hopper was a member of First United Methodist Church in Alvarado and the UMW (United Methodist Women.) Survivors include her daughter, Martha Glenn and husband John and son,Thomas Hopper; grandchildren, D'Arla Tyler and husband Brandon and Blake Glenn and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Ainsley Tyler, Larkin Tyler and Quincey Glenn; several nieces and nephews; godchildren, Colby and Catherine Masterson; and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Derrell Dick Hopper on March 15, 1994; three sisters, Mildred Hobbs, Julia Colwell and Betty Ochocki and one brother, Felts Hobbs.
