Edgar Renfro

Edgar Maurice Renfro, 98, of Cleburne passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in Fort Worth. Graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Friday, November 21, 2014 in Greenacres Memorial Park. The Reverend Nathan Loewen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Terry Renfro, Chad Renfro, Dusty Renfro, Tim Renfro, Jerry Hall, Ron Hall, and Larry Parrish. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. We entrust our loved one into the hands of Christ the Lord for everlasting life. Maurice is the fifth generation of the Renfro family who were the original pioneers to the Johnson County area. They settled in the early 1850’s in the area which became Bethesda. After the Civil War, his great grandfather, James Alexander Renfro moved his family to what is now Lillian. Maurice was born April 15, 1916 in Lillian to George Edgar and Elva Odella McElvany Renfro. Carpentry was his passion. He became a master carpenter and private contractor. With America’s entry into World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific. He married Noyce Moore in 1948 and was devoted to her until her death in 2010. Maurice and Noyce were long time members of the First Christian Church of Cleburne. Uncle Maurice had no children, so he bestowed his love and sage advice on all of us. He was a carpenter with rough hands, but in contrast was a sensitive and caring man. We all are thankful for having had him in our lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Noyce, brother, Harold Gene, and brother-in-law, Lee Hall. Maurice is survived by his sister, Marjorie Ysleta Hall of Mansfield; his sister-in-law, Doris Jean Renfro of Lillian; and 40 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
