Mrs. Verna passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at her home in Cleburne. She was born to Joseph and Margaret Hepsie Perkins Burke on May 18, 1925 in Elkhart, Texas. Through her life, she overcame many hardships that made her stronger in the end. She married Louis J. Verna in 1968 in Nevada. Ella worked over 30 years with Wal-Mart, 23 of those at the store in Cleburne. Her love of people made her a memorable face and smile to all who shopped there, many who became dear to her heart. Ella was a devoted mother, loyal friend, and dedicated worker. She was a member of the Joshua Baptist Church. Her laughter and love of people will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin brother, William Charles Burke; sister, Gracie Burke; and brother, Joe Thomas Burke. Survivors include her six children, Clement Edward Frye, Joseph Elmer Frye, Donna May Frye Anderson, Charles Mitchell Frye, Jo Lynn Summers White, and Otha Sidney Maris, III.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
