Service for Evangeline “Vangie” Bruce, 82, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2014 at Henderson Street Baptist Church. The Reverend Eddie Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Bruce, Jacob Bruce, Hogan Bruce, Christopher Norris, Jason Abernethy and Aaron Rowlett. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Noble, Jimmy Scott and Ricky Hempel. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home. Evangeline Bruce passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Cleburne. She was born December 8, 1931 in Cleburne to Joseph Clement and Jessie Lee Roden Hampton. She married “Tink” Bruce on Nov. 11, 1947 in Weatherford, Texas. Mrs. Bruce worked as an engineering clerk for Southwestern Bell, retiring with 36 years of service. She was a proud member of the telephone pioneers and Henderson Street Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Steve Bruce and wife Suzanne and Kenneth Lee Hampton, both of Cleburne; daughter, Angie Briscoe and husband Rick of Cleburne; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bruce Noble and husband Lee of Cleburne; grandchildren, Paige Briscoe Norris and husband Christopher, Monica Briscoe Abernethy and husband Jason, Joshua Bruce, Gabi Bruce, Jacob Bruce, Jordan Bruce, and Hogan Bruce; great grandchildren, Sam Hampton, Harrison Bruce and Hadley McQueen; and her beloved dog, Loodle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, A.W. “Tink” Bruce on October 13, 2008; son, David Bruce; grandson, Kenny Hampton, and a brother, Melvin Hampton.
