Service for Hazel Margaret Brazzle Jay King, 91, Cleburne, will be conducted11:00 A.M., Monday, October 21, 2019 in the Greater MT. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 A.M, Monday at the church prior to the service Hazel Margaret Brazzle Jay King was born in Cleburne, Texas, December 18, 1927 to the parentage of J.B. Brazzle and Geneva Maxwell. She grew up in Cleburne and attended the public school. She graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1945 as Valedictorian of her class and attended Tillotson College in Austin, Texas for one year. She joined the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church at the age of 12 in October of 1939. She has been at the same church for 80 years. She sang in the choir, was Sunday School Secretary, Announcing Clerk, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Teacher of W.M. U. #1 and Financial Secretary from 1983 until 2016. She married Curtis Jay Sr. in 1946. To this union four children were born. Samuel L. Jay, Curtis Jay, Jr., Margaret Ann Jay Hampton, Marvin L. Jay. Hazel is survived by her children, Samuel Jay and Emmalean of Milwaukee, Curtis Jay Jr. of Milwaukee, Margaret Hampton and Clyde of Burleson, Marvin Jay and Carol of Chesapeake, VA.; step-son, Eddie King and Jane of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Laurie Hardaway, Samuel Jay, Jr., and Kevin Jay; 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews; and a host of special friends at the Buena Vista Seniors Community where she lived for 15 years. She is preceded in death by, her parents, 4 brothers, 5 sisters and her husband Ernest King, Jr. on January 21, 2003.
