He was born October 22, 1934 in Cleburne, TX, the youngest of nine children to Tom & Mary E. (Wiggins) Easdon. Jim grew up in Cleburne, graduated from Cleburne High School then attended Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University), in Abilene Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlie Dell Jackson on December 8, 1956 in Abilene, Texas. They were married 63 years. He served his country through active duty with the Texas National Guard. Jim was a successful entrepreneur involving several ventures as an owner/operator. His working career began as top salesman for Gray’s Menswear in downtown Cleburne. He and Charlie Dell moved to Snyder, TX where he owned several Dairy Queen Stores in both Abilene and Snyder. They later moved to Corpus Christi, TX where he became owner of multiple DQ stores in Corpus Christi and the Valley. After selling his Dairy Queen Stores, they returned to Cleburne, where they opened Turner-Easdon Real Estate, later becoming Turner-Easdon Caldwell Banker Real Estate. Upon selling that business he opened Easy’s Convenience Store. His love of sales led him to automotive sales at Bill Johnson Motor Co., which eventually led him to opening Jim Easdon Auto Sales. From early adulthood, Jim’s business nickname was “Easy” because he made his successes look easy and also because he was an easy going, gentle and kind man. He was a founding director of First State Bank of Cleburne and on the Board of Director’s at First Financial Bank. He was on the Board of Director’s and was a past president of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce. He was a prior member of the Cleburne Lion’s Club. Additionally, he served on the board and was a past president of Cleburne Realtors Association. He received a Hall of Fame Award in 2002 with the Johnson County Association of Realtors. Jim was baptized, becoming a Christian, at the age of 12 at Central Church of Christ, Cleburne, TX. He served as an elder at Westside/Westhill Church of Christ. After God, his family was his first priority and all that he did was for them.
