Service for James A. MacDonald, 84, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. Dr. Robert Herzig will officiate, assisted by Reverend Jimmy Finley. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Mr. MacDonald’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the FUMC United Methodist Men. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home. James A. MacDonald passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 in Cleburne. He was born January 27, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Allan J. and Julia Agnes Prestidge MacDonald. He married Hattie Lou Bell on November 16, 1951 in Cleburne. Mr. MacDonald served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Braniff Airlines for 34 years and later as a consultant and inspector for Dalfort and Lockheed, before retirement. He was the patriarch of the family and a true helper, volunteering in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, and his church. Fishing was his passion, especially in Minnesota lakes. He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch and after moving to Cleburne, he became an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. His love for life and his family will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Hattie Lou MacDonald; children, Mark MacDonald and wife Debra, Michael MacDonald and wife Donna, and Susan Simon and husband Shane; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, P.O.
