James Windham Obituary

James Chase Leonard Windham went Home to be with our Heavenly Father on 6/1/2013, after a short battle with deuodenal cancer. James was born to Leon and Helen Juanita Stracener Windham on 10/10/1954 in Big Spring, Texas. He spent most of his early childhood in Ruidoso, New Mexico, where he had his fondest memories and thought of as his home. At age 21 James was working at the Westwood Theatre in Abilene, Texas, where he met his wife, Patricia (Patty) Denise Patterson. James introduced himself as Chase, which was his CB handle, and that was the name that stuck. They were married 3/11/1977 in Coleman, Texas. James is survived by his wife Patty and his children are Patrick Shane, wife Kayla and granddaughter Lila Belle of Bossier City, LA; Richard Sean, wife Jamie and grandson Colton James of Covington, TX; Leslie and husband Christopher Clayton of Blue, Texas; Michael, Ashley and Austin of Covington, TX. James sister is Judy and husband Gordon Hill of Tulsa, OK. James brother is Larry Joe Windham of Novice, TX. James has a number of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins here in Texas. James was preceded in death by his premature son and parents. James worked in the freight business for 30 years, he retired from Roadway Express. James raised his sons in Grand Prairie, Texas. Then he and Patty moved to Covington, Texas in 9/1999 where they purchased land and built their retirement home. In 2005, James joined the Masonic Lodge in Covington and has been very active with the New Hope Lodge #652. He served as Worshipful Master for 2 terms. He was also a member of the Knights Templar in Hillsboro, Texas, CISD FFA Booster Club and was presented an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree just this year. James was a very quiet man, but was always there to help anyone in need. His in-laws said that he was the person they could always depend on to be there if there was a need of any kind. James will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. Service First Baptist Church Covington, TX Saturday, June 08, 2013 11:00 A.M.
