A graveside service with military honors for J.D. Armstrong, Jr., 91, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Georges Creek Cemetery in Somervell County. The Reverend Larry York will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home. J.D. Armstrong, Jr. passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Cleburne. He was born February 11, 1924 in Fort Spunky to J.D., Sr. and Ophelia Masters Armstrong. He married Billie Colleen Shields on July 25, 1946 in Walnut Springs and she preceded him in death on December 23, 1995. Mr. Armstrong served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a self-employed rancher, a 33rd degree Mason, and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Cleburne. Survivors include his daughter, Prudence Scott and husband Larry of Houston; son, Joe Armstrong and wife Terri of Cleburne; three grandchildren, Melody Tanner, Jason Scott, and Nathan Armstrong; and two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Katelyn Tanner. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, John Diar Armstrong; and sister, Mildred Padon.
