Service for Jean Meek, 83, of Rio Vista will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Friendship Baptist Church. The Reverend Kyle Livingston will officiate. Burial will be in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Casey Moncrief, Tanner Moncrief, Blake Gustin, David Gustin, Robert Powell and Kenneth Stepp. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Dooley, Randy Moore, Joe Lilly, Skeet Boyd, Larry Melson and the Reverend Bob Bade. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Jean Meek passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Rio Vista. She was born September 21, 1931 in Rio Vista to Marion F. and Reba Wade Gilbert. She married Grady Vernell Meek on June 1, 1950 in Cleburne. Mrs. Meek was a homemaker, adored wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and treasured friend. She helped run the family business for more than 50 years and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Grady Meek of Rio Vista; son, Jerry Meek and wife Debbie of Cleburne; daughter, Sherri Moncrief of Cleburne; three grandchildren, Amber Meek, Casey Moncrief and Tanner Moncrief, all of Cleburne; brother, Charlie Gilbert and wife Shirley; four sisters, Jack Hanes, Mary Miller, Rubye Marshall, and Sharon Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mickey Morris; brothers, J.T. Gilbert and infant brother, Hugh Mitchell Gilbert.
