Service for Joan Natalie Ownbey, 67, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Field Street Baptist Church. Dr. John Hall and Reverend John Glover will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery with the Reverend Kody Hughes officiating. Pallbearers will be Rocky Whitehead, Terry Ownbey, Greg Webb, Ricky Bingham, Steven Cooper, Damon Emery, and Charlie Hall. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. Joan Natalie Ownbey passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Ft. Worth. She was born September 13, 1947 in Brattleboro, Vermont to Richard Herman and Natalie Elizabeth Alexander Wellman. She married Kenneth Lynn Ownbey on August 30, 1968 in Cleburne. Mrs. Ownbey worked as a Nursing Administrative and Staffing Coordinator for Walls Regional Hospital for 17 years and was receptionist and Administrative Assistant at Field Street Baptist Church for 12 years. She was a past secretary and member of ABWA and named Woman of the Year in 1999. Joan was also a member of the American Heart Association and Johnson County Parkinson Support Group. She was a very active member of Field Street Baptist Church where she has served as class secretary of her Sunday school class and served in the Awana program for six years. She enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, genealogy, shopping, and spending time with family and grandchildren. Joan loved to organize and plan family reunions and holiday gatherings. She also assisted in planning and organizing several hospital reunions. Joan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Lynn Ownbey; daughter, Karen Michelle Grigsby and husband Monty Aaron; son, Jeffrey Lynn Ownbey and wife Paula Gay; grandchildren, Natalie Michelle Grigsby, Shelbie Lynn Grigsby, Kenna Marie Ownbey, and Rebecca Leigh Ownbey; brothers, Jack Wellman and wife Lordes and John Wellman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
