Service for Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Hazlett, 81, of Cedar Hill, will be conducted at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 in the Greenacres Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Jones, Jim Anderson, Benny Johnson, Sam Hazlett, Rob Hazlett and Mack Wilson. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. Mr. Hazlett passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 in Cedar Hill. He was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Cone to Sam Byrd and Leila Elizabeth Denton Hazlett. He married Shirley Evelyn Beattie on Aug. 29, 1952 in Beaumont. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 1999. Mr. Hazlett served his country in the United States Navy. He was a police officer with over 20 years of service. He was a Mason and was of the Baptist faith. His smile would light up any room, and he was well loved by his family and many friends. Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Hazlett of Cedar Hill and Crystal Wilson and husband Mack of Brady; son, Murray Hazlett and wife Terry of Hereford; five grandchildren, Sam, Rob, Taylor, Hunter, and Emma; five great grandchildren, Addilyn, Kaitlyn, Trinity, Sean and David; and three sisters, Nadine Jones and husband Bill of Cleburne, Willene Anderson and husband Jim of Gainsville and Janey Johnson and husband Benny of Cleburne.
