Service for Larry Karl Nelson, 54, of Blum, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, prior to services. Mr. Nelson passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 in Whitney. He was born to William and Martha Graeb Nelson on August 7, 1958 in Fort Worth. He married Sandra Anderson in Blum on April 19, 2003. He was of the Methodist faith and worked numerous years as a mechanic with the city of Duncanville. Larry was an avid racing fan, driver, and mechanic. He spent countless hours at the tracks in Kennedale and Ennis over the years. Larry will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Nelson of Blum; sons, Cory Nelson and wife, Shara of Midlothian, Doc Nelson and Matthew Nelson both of Alvarado; daughters, Taysha Myles and husband, Chello of Cedar Hill and Britni Newman and husband, Josh of Covington; 7 grandchildren, Steven, Chanler, Reese, Alex, Draven, Aaliyah, and Tommy; sister, Linda Price of Dallas; niece, Heather Hes and husband, Ron; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
