Service for Lucille Brawner Bentley, 95, of Joshua will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Lane Prairie Baptist Church. The Reverend Jerry Clements and the Reverend Roy Gee will officiate. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Cole Robbins, Ty Underwood, Carter Hayes, Eric Nelson, Kyle Bentley, Bryce Bentley and Brent Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Blair and Rob Smith. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Bentley passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Burleson. Lucy, as she was known by family and friends, was born Apr. 26, 1918 in Alvord to J. R. and Ester Beatrice Buck. She married Alton Brawner on Dec. 21, 1940 in Wise County. They had three children and spent most of their married life in the Joshua area. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1979. Lucy then married L.O. Bentley on May 28, 1986 in Joshua and she and L.O. made their home in Joshua. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, wife, grandmother, stepmother, sister, aunt and friend. Lucy worked at West Way Manufacturing, Paulines Flowers and she and L.O. owned and operated an antique mall for a time in Joshua. She also served a term on the Joshua City Council and was a long-time member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, L.O. Bentley; daughter, Linda Sue Robbins and husband Bill; son, Lloyd E. Brawner and wife Linda; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Vera Mae McVean; three stepchildren; Kathy Nelson, Calvin Bentley and Dr. Randal Bentley and their families; and four nieces. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Scott Dean; and four brothers.
