Service for Margaret Powell Golson, 83, of Godley will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Godley. Dr. John A. McElroy, Sr. and the Reverend Kenneth Coleman will officiate. Pallbearers will be Andrew Golson Dixon, John A. McElroy, Jr., Sgt. Parker McElroy, Mason Hays, Dalton Hays and John Hays. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. in the Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, TX. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Golson passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 in Ft. Worth. She was born Sept. 11, 1928 in Crawford to Clyde and Roma H. Kincer Powell. She married John Chapmon Golson on Jan. 18, 1947 in Crawford, TX. Mrs. Golson was a faithful musician for the Lord, playing the piano and organ in every church she was a member of and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Godley. She was also a bookkeeper for 17 years in Waco. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Golson Dixon of Godley and Cynthia Golson McElroy and her husband, Dr. John, Sr. of Southaven, Miss.; six grandchildren, Robin M. Fisher and husband Brian, Andrew Golson Dixon and fiancee Melissa Burnham, Margo Hays and husband John, Rebecca Hughes and husband Timothy, John A. McElroy, Jr. and wife Jessica and Sgt. Parker McElroy and wife Veronica; 11 great grandchildren, Alexandria Cary, Chloe B. Cary, Erik W. Fisher, Mason Hays, Dalton Hays, Abigail Hughes, Hannah Hughes, Olivia McElroy, Aaron McElroy, Thomas McElroy and Samuel McElroy. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2005 and one sister, Louise Scott.
