Services for Marvin "Toad" James, 96, of Covington, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. James passed away in Keene on Friday, February 24, 2012. He was born to George W. and Annie Mae Brown-James on November 16, 1915 in Hood County, Texas. He married Viola Lee Avery on September 29, 1934 in Hill County. Marvin began farming in the mid 1940's with cotton, corn, and milo crops. After retirement, he enjoyed playing dominoes. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Texas Rangers. Toad will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola Lee James; and sisters, Viola Johnson, Lieuceal Smith, and Irene Qualls. Survivors include his two sons, Charles W. James and his wife, Maurie, and Marvin L. James; five grandchildren, David, Charlene, Kyle, Scott, and Amy; ten great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Lee Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
