Mary Adeline (Doggett) Coke, age 91, of Bono, TX, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Cleburne. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Cleburne, Texas. Pastor Danny Niedecken will officiate. Visitation with family and friends will immediately follow the service. Open visitation for Mary will occur at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home prior to Tuesday’s service. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Bono Cemetery. Mary was born on October 15, 1924 in the Bruce Community of Johnson County to O.B. and Callie Lauder Doggett. She was raised in the community of Godley, Texas and graduated from Godley High School. She furthered her education at T.C.U. She worked as a registered nurse at Cleburne Memorial Hospital, and then spent the majority of her career working with Dr. William R. Whitehouse at Kimbrow Medical Clinic. Mary was always a “caregiver and servant” at heart. Mary met her future husband, John Harold Coke, while they were both in high school. After his service in World War II, they reconnected and eventually married on September 28, 1949. Mary and John raised their two children on the family farm in Bono, Texas. They were faithful members of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Cleburne, TX for many years. Her loving husband, John Harold Coke, preceded Mary in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Velva York, and a brother, O.B. Doggett, Jr. Mary is survived by her son, John Steel Coke and wife, Rikki of Hewitt,TX; her daughter, Lesa McRae and husband Bob of Argyle, TX; her grandchildren: Mandy Coke of Waco; TX; Christopher McRae and wife Jess of Gainesville, TX; Joshua Coke and wife Amber of Waco, TX; and her great-grandchildren: Alex Jiminez of Waco and Paisley Coke of Waco. She is also survived by her childhood and lifelong best friend, DeVoe Smith. The Family would like to especially thank all of Mary’s friends who kept in touch through the years and supported her with phone calls, visits, thoughts, and prayers. A special thanks also to the caregivers from Encompass Home Health Care. You all helped to contribute to Mary’s wish to remain on the farm until her final days.
