Service for Nelda A. Wakeland, 83, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Danny Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Wakeland passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 in Ft. Worth. She was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Scurry County to Losson and Lottie Mae Perkins Sanderson. She married Lincoln Wakeland on May 11, 1951 in Cleburne. Mrs. Wakeland was an operator for the Southwestern Bell and AT&T telephone companies for 40 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Wakeland loved to travel, work in her yard and also loved going out to eat. Mrs. Wakeland is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lincoln Wakeland; son, Vance Wakeland and wife Paula; daughter, Vickie Wakeland; brother, LaRue Sanderson and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Delores Hampton Brucks, Ollie Johnson, Elva Adams and Irona Blackstock; brothers, Maydell, Leroy, Marshall and Sylvester Sanderson.
