Oris Braswell

Services for Oris "Slim" Braswell, 79, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the funeral home. Mr. Braswell passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Cleburne. He was born to Alvin Leon and Linda Cordilla Jones Braswell on December 11, 1932 in Aquilla, Texas. He married Billie Marie Vassar on December 21, 1952 in Cleburne. He served as a volunteer fireman with Hillsboro for just at 10 years during the 1960's. Slim farmed and owned several local Gulf and Conoco service stations in Hillsboro, Cleburne, and Itasca. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Slim was a vendor at the flea market and loved to garage sale. He also enjoyed playing games, especially cards and dominoes. He was family oriented. He was always taking care of others, often putting their needs above his own. His loving nature and generous spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie Marie Braswell; 2 brothers; 1 grandson; and 4 great grandchildren. Survivors include his children, William and Zera Braswell, Wayne and Dodie Braswell, Sandra and Billy Faught, Aaron Braswell, Denise and Johnny Velarde, and Garth and Pam Braswell; 28 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Charles "Tutor" Braswell and his wife, Sherri; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
