Service for Pearl Maurine Payne, 89, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Payne passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in Austin. She was born Feb. 20, 1923 in Johnson County to Enos and Allie Ledbetter Payne. She married James Gartin Payne on July 15, 1939 in Cleburne. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2002. Mrs. Payne was an insurance agent for Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company. She served her Lord and community as a Pastors wife and an Associational Missionaries wife for over 20 years in Johnson County. She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church for over 50 years. Survivors include her son, Dr. Glen Payne and wife Elissa of Austin; daughters, Janice Hairston and husband Tom of Arlington and Anita King and husband Gaylon of Manor; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a child, Linn Payne and five brothers and sisters.
