P.J. "PiPa" McKelvy Obituary

Service for P.J. McKelvy “PiPa”, 90, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Brooks Monk and Pastor Ty Campbell. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Miller, Trent Campbell, Zack Castaneda, Jonathan Ramirez, J.C. Pounds, and James Bearden. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Wilkerson, Nathan Ramirez, Austin Pike, Weldon Mitchell, Preston Pike, and Vance Davidson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home. P.J. McKelvy passed from this life to the arms of his Savior on Friday, July 29, 2016, in the presence of the family he loved so much. He will be deeply missed. PiPa was born Feb. 15, 1926 in Keene to Picken Jackson, Sr. and Maggie Martin McKelvy. He attended Keene schools until the 8th grade and quit to take care of his family. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1946. On Jan. 17, 1948 he married the love of his life, Evelyn Ruth Christian in Glen Rose and she preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2000. Mr. McKelvy worked as an aircraft assembler for Bell Helicopter, retiring with 40 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and also served as Deacon for many years at Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include his three children, Elaine Campbell and husband Charles and Brenda Fox, all of Cleburne, and Cheryl Bearden and husband James of San Angelo; eight grandchildren, Crystal DuBois and husband Dan, Scott Campbell and wife Christi, Melissa Davidson and husband Troy, Mindi Fox, Shawna Solis and husband Jesse, Emily Fox, James Bearden and wife Michelle, and Ashley Bearden; 28 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and his “My Little Lady Dog”. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
