Service for Reuben Lee Rodgers, Jr. 86, of Grandview will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Charles Payne and the Reverend Brooks Monk will officiate. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home. Mr. Rodgers passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in Cleburne. He was born June 22, 1927 in Johnson County to Reuben Lee Sr. and Jewel Mae Holmes Rodgers. He married Mary Ann Cossey on June 9, 1950 in Cleburne and she preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1985. He then married Reda Faye Thomas on Dec. 30, 1986 in Cleburne and she preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2011. Mr. Rodgers served in the United States Navy. He worked as an electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring with 17 years of service. He then went to work for Johns Manville in maintenance and retired with 22 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, wood carving and riding his motorcycle. Reuben was a feisty, fun loving handyman who could fix almost anything. He was a member of Cleburne Masonic Lodge No. 315, The Order of the Eastern Star Grandview chapter 828, Scottish Rite of Ft. Worth and Calvary Baptist Church. His independent nature and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his daughters, Peggy Reed, Kathy Miller and husband Van, and Linda Kiker Jones and husband Mark; son, Eddie Gene Thomas and wife Yvonne; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Bea Looper and Janice Holland; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry L.T. Thomas on July 6, 2012; one brother; two great granddaughters; and one great grandson.
