Service for Robert Lee “Sonny” Godfrey, 75, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Ken Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Robert Lee “Sonny” Godfrey passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 in Ft. Worth. He was born May 12, 1941 to Lewis L. and Beatrice Russell Green. He married Dorothy Maedell Dowdy on May 12, 1962 in Cleburne. Mr. Godfrey was retired from the City of Cleburne and had worked for Prine’s Auto Salvage. He was of the Baptist faith. Sonny will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his children, Robert D. Godfrey and Larry William Godfrey and wife Diane, all of Cleburne, and Tonya Dixon and husband Dale of Covington; grandchildren, Christie, Chance, Colt, Tausha, and Brandi; eight great grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Godfrey; great grandchild, Eleanor Godfrey; one brother; and one sister.
