Graveside service for Roger Pendley, 74, of Joshua will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 6, 2014 in the Pruitt Lake Cemetery near Avinger, TX. Mr. Pendley passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 in Ft. Worth. He was born Jan. 13, 1939 in Cass County, TX to Raymond Grayson and Birdie Mae Pendley. He married Sheila Kay Brown. Roger was a 1974 AQHA world Champion working cowhorse trainer/rider. The champion horses Roger trained and showed are too numerous to name. Roger was a member of A.P.H.A. and the American Quarter Horse Association. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Pendley of Joshua; daughter, Christie Schomer and husband Jeff of Gillette, WY; five granddaughters; one great granddaughter; brothers, John W. Pendley and wife Jennifer and Raymond Glen Pendley and wife Frances; sister, Velta Thompson, Linda McDuffie, Freda Wood and husband Gary, and Jeanette McDermott and husband John; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Cecil Boyd Pendley, Larry Thomas Pendley and Steve Preston Pendley.
