Service for Sam W. Hardcastle, 83, of Godley, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 2, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Godley. Dr. Joe Cathey will officiate, assisted by Reverend Kenneth Coleman, Reverend Wayne McCoy, Dr. David Cavin and Reverend Don Twiford. Interment will be in Godley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Willis, Bill Hickey, David Trammell, Buster Sowell, Steve McLaughlin and Steve Fuller. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl (Mac) McLaughlin, Bob (Skeet) Savage, Freddie ONeal, Kirk Carrell, Bobby Hamm, Kenneth Teich, David Hanna and Tommy Daniel. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home. Sam W. Hardcastle passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in Godley. He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Johnson County to Jewel Gayle and Mary Tom Adair Hardcastle. He married Billie Jean Mahan on December 21, 1952 in Corpus Christi. Mr. Hardcastle served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked as a carman for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No.760 in Dallas, No.822 in Godley and was a 32nd degree mason. Sam was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Godley. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean Hardcastle of Godley; one daughter, Kathy Jean Applegate and husband David of Godley; three grandchildren, Heath Applegate and wife Crissa of Godley, Ashley Rodriguez and husband Miguel of Godley and Zach Applegate and wife Danae of Clive, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Lance, Noah, and Drew Coleman, Blane, Sydnee and Caleb Applegate and one on the way; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Pamela Renae Hardcastle.
