Susan Cookie Wise Rodgers, of Cleburne passed from this life on July 12, 2013, at the age of 66. Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Westhill Church of Christ. Mr. Kern Porter, Mr. Jerry Nelson and Mr. Jerry Clements will officiate, with song service led by Mr. Clifford Holden and Mr. David Lloyd. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe George, Ricky Yates, Charles Anderson, Gary Waits, Ricky Stepp, and Bobby Ingram. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Cookie was born in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 19, 1946, and graduated from Joshua High School. She worked for many years as a type setter and proofreader for Bennetts Printing and Eubanks Printing. She excelled as a transcriptionist for the court reporters for the 18th and 249th District Courts of Johnson County. She was a member of Central Church of Christ and Westhill Church of Christ. She especially enjoyed following the church softball teams and singing hymns. Cookie was very well rounded and intelligent. She enjoyed Jeopardy and the American Bible Challenge. She was equally at home at a grandchilds sporting events, theatrical or choral productions. In recent years, she especially enjoyed seeing Carnegie, Plaza and Casa Manana shows with her husband, Bill. She was an avid collector, focusing on antiques and patriotic Americana. Cookie is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Billy C. Rodgers of Cleburne; sons, R. W. Butch Rodgers and his wife, Donna, Hilliard Rodgers of Keller and Guy K. Rodgers of Cleburne; grandchildren, Kari Rodgers, Bret Rodgers, Katie Rodgers, Shelby Rodgers and Roland Cooper Rodgers; brother-in-law, Larry D. Rodgers; nephew, Larry E. Rodgers; and niece, Lorie Rodgers Porter, all of Joshua. Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edna Wise, and her brother, Larry Wise.
