Graveside service for Velma Marie Smith, 95, of Keene will be conducted at 5:00 P.M., Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the Keene Memorial Park. Pastor Jennifer Scott will officiate. Velma Marie Smith passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014. She was born January 8, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Orval Joshua and Millie Florene Fry McKiness. She married Robert Norwood Smith Sr. on May 15, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, and he preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Smith retired from Loma Linda University Hospital with 10 years of service. She was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Velma was an energetic, hardworking woman who loved to laugh and enjoyed the outdoors. Her love for family and life will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Myrna Smith, Robert Smith Jr. and wife Karen, and Brian Smith and wife Christine; grandchildren, Rob Smith and wife Tiffany, Heather Davidson, Kari Huffman, Justin Smith, and Brandon Smith; great grandchildren, Mackensie, Jared, Ryan, and Madison; sister, Irene Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
