Service for Vivian Shields Swallow, 88, of Blum will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ben Coburn, Chris Shields, Dale Shields, Justin Shields, Shawn Shields and Todd Shields. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Swallow passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 in Whitney. She was born July 1, 1924 in Stamford to Green Washington Bradshaw and Vivian Day Bradshaw. She married Ewell Talmadge Shields on Nov. 23, 1941 in Waco. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1984. She then married Marvin Swallow on Dec. 23, 1994 in Blum and he preceded her on April 12, 2007. Mrs. Swallow was a homemaker and an excellent cook and baker. She was well-known for her delicious coconut cakes. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, dancing and decorating her home. She lived for her family and accepted everyone with open arms. Mrs. Swallow was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blum. Her giving nature and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Mike Shields and wife, Marcy and Vicki Underwood and husband Don; daughter-in-law, Janice Shields; step children, Lavecia Whitehead and husband, Mike, Davonda Buckaloo and Michael Swallow and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Shawn Shields, Dale Shields, Todd Shields, Chris Shields, Justin Shields, Jason Shields, Misti Coburn, Christy Allen, Allison Merkel and Kristen Rufino; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne L. Bradshaw; sister, Addie Imogene Cox; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ronald T. Shields and Dewey D. Shields; daughter-in-law, Sherry Shields; grandson, Joshua Cole Underwood; and two great granddaughters, Bailey Hope Coburn and Kasey Ann Rufino.
