Alex Averitt, 64, of Corsicana, Texas passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Temple, Texas at Central Texas Veterans Hospital after a short battle with cancer and received an honorable send off from the facility for his service to our country. He was born on May 12, 1955 in Conroe, Texas to Lee and Nettie Averitt.
Alex will always be known for his giving spirit, everyone that met him loved him. The highway will never be the same without “Old Hardhead”. His family and friends will forever cherish their memories of him.
Preceding him in death were his parents; Lee and Nettie Averitt, his brothers, Johnny Perry, Bobby Perry, Danny Averitt; his sister, Louise Perry; and his daughter, Brittany Averitt. What a glorious day for Brittany as she has waited 7 years to see her Pops whom she loved so much.
Alex leaves behind his wife of 28 years Lynn Farmer Averitt and their children; Alex Jr. and wife Tammy, Jon Averitt Allen and wife Julie, daughter LeAnna “Sidekick” Averitt, honorary son Josh Aguado and wife Courtney and 8 grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memories are his sister, Alma Averitt and honorary brothers; Jerry Bass and wife Lisa, Jim West Sr. and honorary sister Kristy Tatum.
Visitation with the family well be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Tony Stephens officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Averitt, Jr., Jonathan Averitt Allen, Noah Averitt, Ryan Averitt, Jonathan M. Allen and Josh Aguado. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park with Military Honors.
