Betty Jean Johnston Obituary

Betty Jean Marsh Johnston was born to Mamie and Sam Marsh in Navarro, Texas on November 28,1927 and passed away on June 18, 2020 at Baylor Medical Center Dallas. She was married to Roy R. (Buck) Johnston for almost 50 years before he died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou and her brothers; Joe Pete and Sammy Marsh. Betty was a gentle little lady and was kind to everyone she met. She graduated from Mildred High School in 1944 and attended many of their reunions. She worked for many years for Cabell Ice Cream until her retirement. Betty is survived by many Johnston family members – Ed and Lou, Charlotte, Evelyn, Weldon, Beverly, Doug, Stephen, Amy – and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Sharon Crowell and husband Philip, her cousins; Jane McWatters, Bobby Whitefield, the family of Ann Smith, Tracy Smith and her special friend Gene Hobdy. Betty was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana. She received many cards and Marilyn Schmidt delivered lots of flowers from the church to her after she became homebound. Betty will be remembered for her devotion to her church, her friends and family. Her friends and family members have many “Betty” stories. She had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. She will be greatly missed. Special thanks for the excellent care of friends and caregivers, Connie Richter, Janice Southard and Nancy Miller. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 am with graveside service following at 11:30am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating.
