Obituary for Carlos H Medina

Our dearly beloved dad, CARLOS H. MEDINA (CHARLIE BROWN), 82 passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of La Union, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents Felipe and Leonides Medina, also by his two sisters, Esther Viramontes and Lita Valles. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Guadalupe R. Medina, his children, Bibiana, Marina, Albert, Eric and Carlos Jr. The twinkles in his eyes were his two granddaughters, Laramie and Landri Medina. He is also survived by his sisters, Petra Delgado, Lupe Ramos, Maria Luisa Cordero, Rosa Monks and his only brother, Frank Medina along with his nieces and nephews especially Elsa. Carlos enlisted in the United States Army on December 6, 1950. He served in The Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked for the Department of The Interior with The Bureau of Reclamation for 24 years as well as for The El Paso Water Improvement District No.1 for 15 years. Our dad was a Hospitality Minister for Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in La Union. In his loving years he brought us much joy with his humor. His legacy will continue through our memories. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Doniphan. Vigil service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in La Union, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Eric Medina, Landri Medina, Laramie Medina, Richard Ramos, Ramon Medrano, Freddy Medina, Frank Medina Jr. and Danny Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Medina, Albert Medina, David Martinez and Chavelo Medrano. Funeral Service under the direction of HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME.
