Kalim Davis was called home on April 27, 2009. He was born on July 28, 1928 in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania and moved to El Paso in 1933. He was the son of the late Syrian immigrants Tannous Sayoub “Tony Davis” and Karga Assad.
Shortly after high school he joined the marines and was stationed on the USS Shangri-La, an aircraft carrier. After a couple of years he returned to El Paso and joined the family furniture and dry goods business and worked there until retirement. He was devoted to his family, was fluent in three languages and was known for his kind and gentle spirit.
He is survived by his wife Soledad, three daughters Betty, Shirley and Veronica Davis, brother George Davis and sister Virginia Etheredge.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Drs. Jose Luis Porras and Esteban Quirarte and also Delia Huerta, Dio Hines (and entire staff at Cloudview Healthcare) for all their years of outstanding and compassionate care.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Doniphan. Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel-Doniphan. Interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Santa Teresa, NM.
