Elwood Matthews

Elwood Pressley Matthews passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2019 in Denton, TX. He was born in Houston, TX November 1st, 1972 to Harold David Matthews and Sarah Ronk Matthews. In his professional life, Elwood held the position of a Field Supervisor at Ozarka Water in Houston. He enjoyed his role because he was able to meet people and not be confined in an office atmosphere. Elwood wanted to make sure his customers were always taken care of and that they received the best service possible. That's how he met his beloved wife, Susan. Elwood was an avid salt-water enthusiast, sometimes having 3 or 4 tanks at a time. He enjoyed growing corals and adding new fish to his aquarium as well as the challenge of maintaining the right parameters for the water and chemical balance. Though not an easy hobby, Elwood embraced it and truly enjoyed having a small piece of the ocean in his living room. Elwood is predeceased by his wife, Susan. He was devoted to her in every sense of the word. They were married December 1st, 2012. She was his world and he always said with her, he finally got it right. He is survived by his mother, Sarah Matthews; sisters, Joyce Taylor and Trish Matthews; brothers, David Matthews and Grant Matthews; and three children Rebecca, Jacob and Evan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday the 25th of January at 2:00 pm at First Methodist Houston- West Campus, 10570 Westpark Drive, Houston, TX 77042. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
