Frances McNiel

Frances McNiel was born in McGregor, Texas on February 23rd, 1927 and passed away in The Woodlands, Texas on December 22nd, 2019. A graveside service will be held at the San Marcos City Cemetery on Friday, December 27th at 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held at South Main Baptist Church in downtown Houston on Thursday, January 16th at 10:00 a.m. Frances graduated from the Hillcrest Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and began her career at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas in 1947 where she met her future husband, John McNiel. She and John were married in 1951 and moved to Alvin, Texas in 1961. During her over 40 years in Alvin, Frances continued her career as a registered nurse at Galveston County Hospital, Clear Lake Hospital and as a school nurse for Alvin Independent School District. She knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and served Him as an active member of South Park Baptist Church. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Antoinette Witte and her husband of 38 years, John W. McNiel. Frances is survived by her son, David McNiel and wife Nancy, her son, Robert McNiel and wife Deborah and her daughter, Sally Slaughter and husband Bruce; grandchildren Kristi Maestas and husband, Aaron, and Natalie Kovelan and husband James; great-grandchildren Olivia Maestas, Nolan Maestas, Emily Kovelan and Evan Kovelan. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a favorite charity.
