Sketch of Her Life Betty was born on October 4, 1934 in LeCompte, Louisiana to Richard and Thelma Lewis Bowman. She graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in 1951. She attended Southern University and A&M. After receiving her nursing degree, she moved to Houston to pursue her career as a Registered Nurse with Jefferson Davis Hospital and after several years she transferred to Saint Joseph Hospital where she retired. Our beloved mother and friend, Betty Jean Roach, left this world Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:14 a.m. after a brief struggle with liver cancer.
